A brief introduction into the many clubs and activities offered at St Christopher's

First Aid Squad 2006 - succeed in winning three rounds of the St John's Ambulance First Aid Competition before narrowly losing in the National Final at Regent's Park Zoo.

CLUBS

The school offers a wide variety of Clubs including Netball, Football, Spanish, Maths, Games, Needlework, Cookery, Chess, Choir, Recorders and Golf.   These clubs are held either at lunchtime or after school.   The school enters both the National First Aid, the Independent Schools Golf   Tournament.

Our pupils have gained awards to senior schools for Chess and have played at  representative level whilst at senior school.  Our Spanish Club is especially popular and has shown us all just how much a child can learn when something is not taught in a formal classroom situation.

CHARITY

The children realise just how lucky we are. As a result the school takes its place in the community  seriously and to  that end is fully committed to help national and international charities.  We collect for St  Luke's Hospice in  Kenton and support charities including Barnardo's,  Cancer Relief UK and   Whizz Kidz.   St Christopher's appoints its own Charity Monitor each year, whose job it is to maintain our momentum.  This year has been very successful. Recently a cake stall was run for one week - the children bought their snacks for breaktime and the money collected was sent to Macmillan Cancer Support.

MUSIC

The school has a reputation for musical excellence, with children gaining both Music and Choral scholarships at 11+.   Almost 40% of children play an instrument.   Children are able to take up an instrument from the term they enter Year 2.   The school offers   piano, recorder   and violin and our peripatetic staff are excellent.   Every effort is made to ensure that children do not miss key lessons when attending   instrumental tuition.   The school choir has performed at both the Barbican and the Festival Hall, and there is an annual Carol Concert and all children have the opportunity to take part. The choir also sings for charity in our local area.
