Summary of Strengths and Weaknesses June 2004

Our 2004 Inspection highlighted certain strengths within the school:
  1. Moral and social development is very good

2. Pupils behave very well, thoroughly enjoy school and make the best use of the education provided.

3. The current Year 6 set a high standard and are very good role models for the other pupils. [We expect this of every Year 6]

4. Standards in reading and numeracy are high throughout the school.

5. A very good range and quality of activities enhance pupils' learning and enrich the curriculum.

6. Teachers manage pupils very well and are committed to updating and improving the curriculum.

Weaknesses both noted and unnoticed have been attended to.

Staff have attended courses on differentiation and every subject plan now includes differentiation.  A recent staff inset on ‘investigative thinking, enquiry and problem solving’ has led to further development of subject planning and practice.

Staff have full job descriptions and are clear about their roles and responsibilities.

Two years ago our development and improvement plan was incorporated into the annual update procedure.  We have placed more emphasis on library expenditure and funding has increased threefold.  Library skills are taught to all pupils and Brent Town Library attend school assemblies each year – a large number of pupils now attend the Summer Holiday Brent Library Reading Course.

ICT facilities have been upgraded – new server and network system and a programme facilitating full cross-curricular work as standard practice.
